Switching from service-based to product-based company - is it too late at 28?

I've been working at TCS for 5 years and feel stuck. The work is mostly maintenance and I barely code anymore. Want to move to a product company but worried I'm too old to start DSA prep from scratch.

I see freshers solving 300+ problems and I can barely solve easy problems right now. Is it realistic to make this switch at 28 with 5 years of service company experience?

Anyone who's made this transition, how long did it take?

I switched from Infosys to a product company at 29. It took me around 8 months of dedicated prep for DSA and system design. Age isn't really a barrier if you're determined. Just focus on consistency.

Don't stress too much about age. Companies care more about skills and problem-solving ability. Maybe consider projects or open-source contributions to build a strong portfolio.

You're definitely not too old at 28! Many people make the switch even later. Focus on quality over quantity in problem-solving. Start with fundamental problems and gradually increase difficulty.

I had the same fear of starting late, but remember, experience from service companies can be valuable too, especially in understanding client needs. Use it to your advantage!
