Had my Microsoft interviews last week. Here's a quick rundown:

  1. Coding round: Graph traversal problem. Had to find shortest path with some constraints. Used modified Dijkstra.
  2. Design round: Design a chat application. Focused on real-time messaging, presence, and message storage.
  3. Coding round 2: Sliding window problem on strings. Classic but tricky edge cases.
  4. Hiring manager round: Mostly behavioral + high level system discussion.

Waiting for results. The interviewers were very friendly and gave good hints when I was stuck. Microsoft interview process felt way more relaxed than Amazon tbh.

How did you prepare for the design interview? I always find those the toughest.

Sliding window problems always trip me up. Any tips on how to manage those tricky edge cases you mentioned?

How high-level was the system discussion in the hiring manager round? Was it more technical or focused on past experiences?

I'm curious about the chat app design. How did you handle message storage? Did you go with a SQL or NoSQL solution?

Sounds like a great experience! Did you feel any question was unfair or too difficult for the position level?

The graph traversal problem sounds challenging! Did you get to implement the modified Dijkstra in the interview, or just explain the approach?

Did you get any feedback during the interview process or is it all waiting till the end?

The relaxed vibe is so important. How do you think it compared to other tech interviews you've done?
