How to deal with burnout as a software developer

I've been grinding for 3 years straight - first to get into a good company, then to perform well at work, then to prepare for the next switch. I'm exhausted.

Lately I dread opening my laptop. I used to love coding but now it feels like a chore. Even side projects don't excite me anymore.

How do you guys handle burnout? Take a break? Switch to a different role? Or just push through it?

Push through might sound tempting but it can backfire. I tried that and ended up quitting the job because it just got worse. Listen to yourself, your wellbeing should be a priority.

Maybe try setting boundaries. It’s easy to let work seep into personal time, especially when WFH. I set strict 'no work' hours and it's helped me balance things better.

Hey, sometimes all you need is a change of scenery. Consider switching teams or projects. It helped me rediscover my passion when I was in a similar rut.

I totally feel you, Jun. I took a month off last year to recharge. It was scary to step away but it was so worth it. I came back refreshed and actually excited to work again.
