How do you organize your notes while studying DSA?

I've tried multiple approaches and nothing feels right:

  1. Notion - Good for organizing but slow
  2. Physical notebook - Good for retention but can't search
  3. Obsidian - Great linking but steep learning curve
  4. Google Docs - Simple but gets messy

What works for you? Do you organize by:

  • Topic (arrays, trees, etc.)
  • Difficulty
  • Pattern (sliding window, two pointer, etc.)
  • Company

Also, how detailed are your notes? Full solutions or just key insights?

I use a mix of OneNote and physical notebooks. OneNote is great because I can tag topics, like 'dynamic programming,' and later easily find all my notes on it. Physical notebooks are just for jotting down quick insights or when I'm away from the screen. But yeah, finding specific entries in physical notebooks can be tough.

I love using Obsidian! The learning curve was steep for sure, but the linking feature is unbeatable. I organize by patterns, like sliding windows or merges, and it's helped me see connections across problems. My notes are usually concise, focusing on insights and common pitfalls.
